Finally grabbed one of the remastered, 180g vinyl editions at the shop. Side three is something to behold and side four is even better. Rock needs more excessive progressiveness.

Beach Boys – “Feel Flows” box (2023)

Specifically, my ears have honed in on the bonus disc of rarities and live tracks included in the “Surf’s Up” reissue. Check out Carl’s amazing performance on the live version of the title track… this may be my absolute favorite Brian Wilson composition.

Igor Stravinsky – Stravinsky Conducts Stravinsky – Short Pieces (CBC Orchestra)

Lots of fun bits from the 20th century master composer. Greeting Prelude pummels Happy Birthday into a miniature round, Four Etudes for Orchestra and the two Suites for Small Orchestra are neato orchestrations of pre-Sacre Du Printemps piano works… the harmonic superimpositions are delicious. Go Igor!

Witch – Lazy Bones!! (1975)

Great sludgy, jammy, trippy, highlife-adjacent heavy rock from Zambia. These cats had great imagination and inventive musicianship.
